Wisdom teeth are the third of molars which located in very back of your mouth, and they usually come in when most people are in early twenties. Impacted wisdom teeth are those that entrap in the jawbone or surrounding soft tissue. A partially erupted wisdom tooth leads direct access for bacteria to penetrate the area around the tooth and cause then an infection. This can be a painful swelling, and stiffness in the jaw. In surgical extraction, most of dentists say that wisdom teeth should be removed even if they don’t cause any trouble. Eventually, young adults require to have their wisdom teeth extracted before they begin causing the pain. Extraction of wisdom teeth can be done at dental office, and if it is too difficult because wisdom teeth are severely impacted, dentist will recommend you to do in the hospital Here are some suggestions of wisdom extraction
  • When jaw is not big enough to allow all the wisdom teeth to come in, the teeth may be fully impacted, and fail to break through the gum.
  • Wisdom teeth may cause a shift in surrounding teeth and cause pain.
  • Wisdom teeth may play a role in bone loss and expansion of the jaw.
  • Wisdom teeth may contribute to sinus congestion and headaches.
  • Wisdom teeth may cause gum irritation. If wisdom teeth become crooked and not fully break through, it may be difficult to clean the gums.

Wisdom Teeth Procedure:

Talk with your dentist about advance preparations. In general, it's important to dress comfortably for the operation, bring someone along to help you get home, and avoid eating or drinking anything for at least six hours before surgery. Your dentist will use as little force as possible to remove the tooth, carefully pushing the gum out of the way and then cutting the tooth into small pieces for removal. Since you'll receive sedation, you shouldn't feel any pain during the surgery. After the teeth are removed, the dentist will suture your gums back into place. After removal of wisdom teeth, do not plan for a couple days to rest and promote the healing. Your jaws will swell and will be very sore. The swelling will make it hard to open your mouth for a few days. You will then need to take aspirin for about two to five days. Eat soft foods for up to a week. You will also get body weakness for a few days.
